Although the creatures in K'val Ruins are likely mindless, there is still likely a hierarchy of some sort there, even if it is mostly some form of latent memory. I've offered to scout the area for Sergeant Herla, and see if I can provide her with any information that might be useful to her and the other Combine soldiers.
